On Saturday 14th September 2019, I was lucky enough to be invited to the East Sussex Studio of artist Jessica Zoob to preview her latest collection – Inspired By Asia. Jessica has recently set up a new studio in Hong Kong and her new collection was created there and inspired by her travels around Asia (hence the name!)
An Afternoon with Jessica Zoob
Jessica welcomed a group of like-minded bloggers and photographers to come and preview her new collection at her studio and we were warmly greeted by Jessica and her daughter on a beautifully sunny day! Once we introduced ourselves to new friends and old, we were then invited to have a wander around her studio, taking photos of her latest work and encouraged to use the many beautiful floral displays that were in abundance in the studio.
Asia Collection
Jessica’s new collection really does capture the beauty and essence of Asia. Her contemporary impressionist oil paintings and use of colour means there is something for everyone in her collection and I was particularly drawn to the bright neon style paintings. The abstract style of her creations exude energy and I could see why she is definitely the artist of choice for many Interior designers.
About Jessica
Once we’d had an hour or so mingling and taking photos, we all gathered in the middle of the studio so Jessica could give a little speech and it was so inspiring, I decided to include it in this blog…
“So wonderful to be in a space full of so many amazing creative women! Thank you all so much for being here today. I really appreciate your support and encouragement!
For those of you who don’t know me yet I just wanted to introduce myself and explain a little bit about what I am trying to achieve here.
I suppose I feel more and more that creativity is a gift and that I have been incredibly blessed to be able to spend my life following my dreams. I think I am at a more thoughtful stage in my life and feeling the need to clarify my position and intentions. I would like to find ways to share my work and to inspire others to keep making good decisions.
I think that we live in troubled times and that now more than ever we need to look toward the light. To celebrate and help each other. To encourage and to keep the faith that there is always sunshine after the rain.
I think the world needs more female energy. To embrace a passion for protection and nurturing rather than power and destruction.
I also believe humans need beauty and hope and that true art can transcend time and distance and that if we look carefully we will find inspiration everywhere.
I think if we find like-minded souls and work together with integrity and passion we can achieve miracles.
If I were asked what do I represent…..
I represent life and hope and beauty. I believe in the power of a clear ambition, precise wishes and baby steps!!”
Jessica trained at the Central School of Art and Nottingham University and went on to become a theatre designer at many venues across the country. She has been working as a British contemporary artist at her East Sussex Studio since 2000, using mainly oil paint. Jessica regularly exhibits her work in London and private collections around the world.
After the speech, we were treated to some delicious canapes and a vegan afternoon tea by www.sevensistersspices.com with a few G & T’s. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting to many fabulously inspiring women about what they did, what brought them to Jessica’s studio and the world of blogging and Instagramming! It was such a beautiful day, we eventually wandered out into the garden of the Studio which was also wonderfully curated and a perfect spot to finish off our drinks before heading home.
I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon at Jesscia Zoob’s studio, set in the heart of East Sussex, surrounded by so many kind and inspiring women! Jessica is holding an Open Studio, details as follows –
