Benjamin Moore Color of the Year 2026 – Silhouette

Okay, paint lovers, it’s that time of year again! Benjamin Moore just dropped their Color of the Year for 2026 – say hello to Silhouette (AF-655). A gorgeous, rich espresso brown with charcoal undertones that’s about to take over our homes in the best possible way.
If you’ve been craving something warm, sophisticated, and miles away from the grays we’ve been seeing everywhere, this might just be your new favorite color.
Benjamin Moore Color of the Year 2026 and Color Trend Palette

Along with Silhouette, BM has also announced its color trend palette of the year. It includes;
- Raindance 1572
- First Crush CSP-310
- Swiss Coffee OC-45
- Batik – AF-610
- Narragansett Green HC-157
- Southwest Pottery 048
- Sherwood Tan 1054
- Silhouette AF-655
What Exactly Is Silhouette?
Silhouette is described as a rich espresso hue with subtle notes of charcoal, creating a deep, luxurious brown that feels both warm and refined. Think of your favorite dark roast coffee mixed with just a hint of charcoal – that’s the vibe we’re going for here.

Some people even pick up on violet undertones alongside those charcoal notes, which gives it this really interesting depth and dimension.
What I love about this color is that it’s not just another brown. It has this incredible complexity that changes depending on the light.

The dappled light hits it differently throughout the day, constantly transforming its appearance. It’s moody without being too dark, sophisticated without feeling stuffy, and warm without being too cozy-cabin.
It’s basically the perfect neutral for people who think they don’t like neutrals. But I’m not entirely convinced I will use it in my home.
The Inspiration Behind the Color

Here’s where it gets interesting. Benjamin Moore’s director of color marketing, Andrea Magno, says the choice was inspired by a renewed interest in suiting and classic silhouettes in fashion, along with the resurgence of timeless pieces and the growing popularity of the brown color family.
They’re drawing a parallel between a perfectly tailored suit and this color – both have structure, sophistication, and that timeless quality that never goes out of style.
The team focused on how classic tailoring has returned to fashion, with refined looks that maintain comfort for long periods of wear, and how that layering translates to designing a room.
Just like a custom suit is all about the details – the stitching, the lining, the perfect fit – this color is about creating spaces with depth and intention. I’m always here for this fashion-meets-interiors energy, but I don’t think what works in fashion always translates well to interiors!
Why Now? The Shift Toward Warmer Tones

If you’ve been following paint trends at all, you know we’ve been slowly saying goodbye to those cool grays that dominated the 2010s. Browns have been becoming more prominent in Benjamin Moore’s collections, and Silhouette represents the evolution of this trend with its greater complexity.
It’s a smooth transition from their 2025 Color of the Year, Cinnamon Slate, showing a clear shift toward warmer colors.
The selection also responds to what the team calls “micro trend fatigue” – basically, people are exhausted with the constant cycling of design trends driven by social media.
We’re all craving colors with staying power, ones that won’t look dated in six months when the algorithm moves on to the next thing. Silhouette delivers on that promise beautifully.
How to Use Silhouette in Your Home
The beauty of this color is its versatility. Since it’s a neutral with depth, there’s really no limit to how you can use it at home.
Let me share some ideas that’ll help you use Benjamin Moore’s Silhouette in your home!
Go Bold with Full Walls

When used on the walls and ceiling of a living room, Silhouette can make neutral furnishings really stand out. Color-drenching a room in this shade creates an incredibly cozy, enveloping atmosphere.
It’s perfect for spaces where you want to feel wrapped up and comfortable, think home theaters, dining rooms, or bedrooms. Pair it with crisp white trim for a classic, polished look that lets the brown really shine.
Make a Statement at Your Front Door

As a front door color, Silhouette creates a warm, welcoming entrance. It’s sophisticated enough to work with traditional homes but also feels modern and fresh.
Plus, a dark door is incredibly practical – it hides dirt and wear way better than lighter colors!
Try It on Cabinetry
Kitchen or bathroom cabinets in Silhouette? Yes, please! This color brings such richness and depth to cabinetry, and it pairs beautifully with brass hardware, marble countertops, or natural wood accents.
It’s elegant without being too formal, which makes it perfect for modern kitchens that still feel livable and warm.
Accent Pieces for the Cautious

Not ready to commit to full walls? Start smaller! Use Silhouette on door frames, built-in shelving, or window trim to add character without overwhelming your space.
You could also bring it in through furniture pieces, curtains, or even decorative accessories to test out the color before going all in.
The Perfect Pairings
Silhouette is part of Benjamin Moore’s larger Color Trends 2026 palette, which includes seven complementary colors carefully chosen for their ability to layer effortlessly. These are the perfect partners for Silhouette if you’re looking to create a cohesive look:
Swiss Coffee OC-45 anchors the collection as a warm, versatile off-white that’s already one of Benjamin Moore’s top sellers. It’s the perfect pairing if you want that classic contrast with Silhouette.

First Crush CSP-310 is a tender neutral with delicate blush undertones that brings warmth to any space. It’s gorgeous with Silhouette if you want to soften the deeper tone.

Batik – AF-610 is a dusty mauve that blends pink and purple with surprising versatility and vintage appeal. This one adds just enough color without being too bold.

For something with more depth, there’s Narragansett Green HC-157. It is a moody, sophisticated green with grey undertones that brings an organic, mineral quality to any space.
It’s earthy without being overly nature-inspired, making it perfect for creating bold contrast against Silhouette’s warmth.

Raindance 1572 brings an organic, mineral quality that feels fresh and calming, like the color of sage after a rain shower. This shade is perfect for bedrooms, bathrooms, or any space where you want to create a serene, spa-like atmosphere.
When paired with Silhouette, Raindance provides a cool counterpoint to the warm espresso tones, creating a balanced palette that feels both sophisticated and naturally inspired.

Southwest Pottery 048 channels those gorgeous terracotta and clay tones that have been trending in design. It’s a warm, earthy shade that brings that desert-inspired aesthetic into your home without feeling too rustic or southwestern.
When used alongside Silhouette, it creates a warm, tonal palette that feels cohesive and intentional, like everything was chosen with care.

Sherwood Tan 1054 is a rich, warm tan that serves as the perfect bridge between Silhouette’s depth and the lighter pales in the collection. It’s versatile enough to work as a main wall color or as trim and cabinetry, and it brings warmth without being too yellow or beige.
This shade is ideal for creating that tonal, layered approach with Silhouette – think trim in Sherwood Tan against Silhouette walls, or vice versa.

Who Is This Color For?
Honestly? Pretty much everyone! If you love neutrals but are tired of gray, Silhouette is calling your name. If you’ve been wanting to experiment with darker, moodier colors but aren’t ready for black, this is your gateway shade.
It works particularly well in traditional or vintage-inspired homes, fitting right in with the trend of younger generations embracing flea market finds and secondhand furniture.
It’s also perfect if you’re looking to create spaces that feel intimate and cozy without being too dark or cave-like. The charcoal and violet undertones keep it from feeling flat or one-dimensional, so you get depth without the heaviness.
Making It Work in Your Space

Here’s my advice: get a sample and live with it for a bit. Paint a large piece of poster board and move it around your room throughout the day to see how it looks in different lighting conditions.
Silhouette is one of those colors that really transforms based on natural versus artificial light, so you want to make sure you love it in all its moods.
Think about what you’re pairing it with, too. Silhouette plays beautifully with natural materials like wood, rattan, and linen.
It loves brass and gold hardware, works surprisingly well with terracotta and warm ceramics, and looks stunning against marble or stone. If your space has warm undertones already, Silhouette will feel right at home.
Silhouette – A Good Choice?

Silhouette weaves a narrative of enduring style and grace, balancing refinement with distinction. It’s the kind of color that makes a statement while still feeling approachable and livable.
In a world of fast-changing design trends and social media-driven aesthetics, there’s something really refreshing about a color that’s built to last.
Whether you’re ready to paint an entire room or just want to add a touch of this sophisticated brown through accessories and accents, Silhouette offers that perfect balance between being current and being timeless. It’s warm, it’s versatile, it’s complex, and it’s exactly what our homes need right now.
So, are you team Silhouette? I have a feeling we’re going to be seeing this gorgeous espresso-charcoal beauty everywhere in 2026 – but perhaps more in fashion than interiors. I’ve already seen quite a few of my fashion-conscious friends sporting this color in suits and tracksuits!
Will I use it? Honestly, I’m not sure. I am all for neutrals, but I feel it’s a little too dark for the walls of my home. I think it will work well for furniture, or to use as a guide for soft furnishings, but I doubt I will be rushing out to buy it for my walls.
However, I felt that way with Cinnamon Slate and it definitely grew on me! Only time will tell if this color is a hit or not.
