Best Vinyl Fence Supplier Van Nuys: 7 Compared on Wall Thickness

Los Angeles updated its zoning code in January 2025, but most Van Nuys lots still follow the older fence rules, which forces homeowners to guess which supplier claims hold up.

You need hard numbers: the wall thickness of every post, rail and board; a warranty naming labour, gates and fade coverage; and a CSLB licence you can verify online. We pulled those documents from seven companies and scored them to find the best vinyl fence supplier.

One note: ASTM F964 tests material weathering only, not wind load.

How We Ranked the Seven Companies

Our model rewards traceable facts and cuts points when details go missing. We scored six criteria and weighted them as follows:

  1. 35 percent: Component thickness evidence. We asked each bidder for the minimum wall thickness on posts, rails and boards, plus any steel inserts. Full credit required a profile sheet or a measurable SKU; “not disclosed” scored zero.
  2. 20 percent: Warranty depth. We read every line item, giving extra weight to terms that transfer to the next homeowner, cover fading, and name gate hardware and labor.
  3. 15 percent: Supply-chain traceability. We checked where the PVC is extruded, where panels are cut, and whether matching parts will still exist a decade from now. Local fabrication beat unverified drop shipping.
  4. 10 percent: Licensing and code fluency. An active CSLB license is the floor. We also noted whether staff could cite Los Angeles fence-height and pool-barrier rules without prompting.
  5. 10 percent: Local access. Showrooms or yards inside or near Van Nuys gained points for hands-on sample viewing and faster replacements.
  6. 10 percent: Independent reputation. We refreshed Yelp and Google reviews under the exact legal entity and watched for unresolved complaints.

  • “Fabricate” means the company cuts or routes panels in-house rather than drop-shipping finished sections.
  • † Licence numbers checked on the CSLB portal, August 2026; “Verify” indicates no matching active record yet.

Benchmark, not California law: many institutional specs require ≥ 0.150-inch (3.8 mm) posts, ≥ 0.090-inch (2.3 mm) rails, and ≥ 0.070-inch (1.8 mm) boards. They illustrate what large buyers demand, not a city code.

1. Vinyl Fence Depot: Best Documented Van Nuys Fabrication and Showroom Fit

Vinyl Fence Depot’s facility at 14700 Oxnard St in Van Nuys (showroom, warehouse, fabrication) is the only shop inside the neighborhood.*

Visit their showroom to walk the aisle, tap a finished post made of USA-made rigid PVC with titanium-dioxide pigment (UV-stable, non-yellowing), and watch the CNC router cut rails before the pieces reach your yard.

Local control is the edge. Each panel is cut and assembled on site, trimming special-order lead times and avoiding mismatched profiles. The company cites more than 20 years and thousands of installations by in-house crews, plus multiple Talk Awards (2011–2020) and a Shield award.

Homeowners follow the same workflow: free on-site estimate, contract with a 10 percent deposit (the legal maximum in California), fabrication, and install.†

Warranty terms back the pitch. Residential buyers receive a limited lifetime transferable warranty, while commercial or multifamily jobs carry a 30-year warranty. Both include lifetime protection against discoloration.

The one missing public metric is component thickness. Until a profile sheet appears, measure an off-cut of the quoted SKU and record the lowest wall reading. A working factory floor, licence #836988, and a transferable warranty justify the top ranking, even with “N / D” still in the thickness column.

† California Business & Professions Code § 7159 limits down payments to 10 percent or $1,000, whichever is less.

2. Pro Vinyl Fencing: Best Alternative Turnkey Fabricator and Installer

Pro Vinyl Fencing sells a one-stop model: the same in-house crew routes posts, cuts rails, and installs the final gate latch at your property. Its Van Nuys service hub quotes lead times of three to four weeks during peak season, faster than several Valley competitors we spot-checked.*

The company holds California fencing-contractor license #1151543, active August 28, 2026. Verify the number on the CSLB portal before you sign.

The public site promises a lifetime product term but omits labour, gate hardware and colour-fade coverage. Ask for the full document: service visits are out of pocket if cover is product-only.

Component thickness remains undisclosed, and headline totals for completed jobs or five-star reviews are self-reported. Treat them as marketing until you can confirm with a sample measurement and an itemized reference list.

3. GNG Vinyl Fencing: Best Self-Reported Transferable Product Warranty

GNG advertises two standout perks: PVC profiles “made in the USA” and a lifetime product warranty that transfers with the property, not just the owner.* That clause can boost resale value, provided the buyer receives the signed warranty at closing.

Location is less clear. The Van Nuys landing page lists 14700 Oxnard Street, the same address used by Vinyl Fence Depot, while GNG’s contact page and showroom list 445 W. Colorado Street, Glendale. Confirm where panels will be cut and which crew (GNG or a subcontractor) will install before you pay a deposit.

GNG holds California fencing-contractor license #884502, active August 28, 2026. Verify status on the CSLB portal.**

As with rivals, component-thickness data was not public. Ask for the profile sheet or measure a scrap, then compare weight per linear foot to another quote.

One practical upside: the company lists a direct service line rather than a generic form, so a real person answers if a gate latch sags years later.

4. Vinyl Concepts: Best for Reading the Warranty Fine Print Up Front

Most suppliers advertise “lifetime” and leave the gaps to your imagination. Vinyl Concepts does the opposite: its warranty page lists the exclusions plainly.

Metal inserts are not covered, gates receive extrusion-only coverage, and all product warranties come from the extruder rather than Vinyl Concepts.

The company fabricates in Chatsworth and installs throughout the Valley, so a matching rail or post usually sits in its own yard, not in a distant warehouse, when a windstorm bends a gate next spring.

Because the product warranty sits with the manufacturer, coverage could change if that extruder leaves the market. Ask in writing who pays for removal, freight and reinstallation on a claim. Licence #959752 was active in August 2026; verify before signing.

Thickness sheets for posts, rails, and boards were not public at our deadline. Request the profile drawings or measure a shop off-cut before approving the bid.

5. Fence Factory: Best Regional One-Stop Shop for Multi-Material Comparisons

Homeowners who still weigh vinyl against cedar, wrought iron, or chain link can inspect all four under one roof at Fence Factory’s Moorpark yard, about 25 miles northwest of Van Nuys.*

The trade-off is travel time and delivery distance. A full-service install in Van Nuys may add a few days of lead time, but you can handle rails, posts, and gate hardware in several materials before choosing.

The public capabilities brochure lists on-site vinyl fabrication, but the PDF is stamped 2020. Ask which extrusion brands the branch stocks today, whether profiles have changed, and whether the warranty terms still apply. Multi-material yards rotate suppliers, so make current cut sheets a condition of signing.

Licence #407010 was active in August 2026; confirm status on the CSLB portal before paying a deposit. No thickness figures were public, so mark “N / D” until you can measure a sample.

6. Vinyl Fence Mart: Best Conditional Close-In Parts Supplier

Vinyl Fence Mart’s walk-up counter on De Soto Avenue in Northridge, about 7 miles from central Van Nuys, can save a DIYer or repair crew a 40-minute round-trip to Moorpark for a single rail.*

Beyond convenience, documentation thins out. We found no official site listing a matching CSLB licence or warranty document, and directories reference at least two similar names. Pin down the exact entity before money changes hands.

Ask the counter staff to:

  1. Write the legal business name and CSLB licence number on the quote.
  2. Hand you the warranty sheet for the specific profile you’re buying.
  3. Supply the SKU plus minimum wall thickness for posts, rails, boards, and any steel inserts.

Verify the licence on the CSLB portal the same day and walk away if it is inactive or registered to a different trade. Treat every verbal assurance as provisional until the documents arrive.

7. Customize Vinyl Fencing: Best Conditional Pick for Custom Designs

For a 10-degree slope, a two-tone privacy panel or a 9-foot driveway gate, Customize Vinyl Fencing builds to spec at its Sun Valley workshop, 8 miles east of Van Nuys.*

That promise requires homework. We found no public spec sheet, warranty PDF, or CSLB record that matches the brand name word for word. Treat the quote as preliminary until you gather:

  1. The legal business name and CSLB license number; verify it online the same day.
  2. A profile drawing showing post, rail, and board wall thickness plus any steel inserts.
  3. A written color-fade warranty that names the exact pigment or laminate system.

Ask for a realistic lead time, since specialty colours can push production past four weeks to six or more. Without those documents, you have no enforceable paper trail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need a fence permit in Van Nuys?

Yes, in many cases; the trigger depends on both height and location.

  • Zoning height. A and RA zones allow up to 6 ft along the front property line; R and RW zones stop at 3 1/2 ft in front without Planning sign-off. Side and rear yards reach 8 ft only on lots at least 40 ft wide and outside hillside areas; otherwise, 6 ft.
  • Building permit. Anything above those zoning caps, any masonry wall over 3 1/2 ft, and any fence over 10 ft need a permit even where zoning allows the height.
  • Pool and overlay zones. Pool enclosures carry their own 60-inch rules, and hillside or Historic Preservation overlays can set stricter limits.

Limits vary by city, so treat no number as universal. Pull the parcel in ZIMAS and confirm the mapped zone with your local planning department before ordering materials. The curb edge is rarely the legal property line, so measure from the surveyed boundary.

How much does vinyl fencing cost per foot?

Neutral cost books such as Home-Tech 2025 and RSMeans 2025 list a 6-ft white privacy fence at $32–$46 per linear foot installed in national averages.* That price assumes a level lot, one walk gate, no demolition, and no engineering.

Expect San Fernando Valley quotes to run higher. Tight alleys, buried footing debris, disposal and permit paperwork can push totals 15-30 percent above the national median, and specialty colours, gate operators or hillside pier footings climb further.

Ask every bidder for the same line-item scope: demolition, posts, rails, infill boards, gates, hardware, concrete, haul-away and permit time.

What wall thickness should you ask for?

Vinyl fence profiles are hollow. Wall thickness, along with any hidden steel, is all that stands between summer heat and an early crack.

  1. Request three numbers, not one. Get the minimum wall for the post, rail and infill board, and compare them with the benchmark figures above.
  2. Ask for weight per foot. A “thick” post can still hide empty ribs; weight confirms the plastic mass behind the measurement.
  3. Confirm reinforcement. A 5 x 5-inch post still flexes if the crew skips the steel insert or pours a shallow footing. Gate frames, bottom-rail stiffeners and corner posts should be named in writing.
  4. Measure a sample. Bring a digital caliper, grab a factory off-cut with the right SKU, and record four readings on a flat face away from corners. Log the lowest value; that is the one that fails first in an impact test.

Can vinyl fencing meet California pool rules?

Yes, if the finished barrier meets every line of the California Swimming Pool Safety Act and local building code. The state generally calls for a 60-inch fence with self-closing, self-latching gates, but exact requirements vary by authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).*

  • Two safety features. When a permit is issued for a new or remodeled residential pool, the owner must install two independent drowning-prevention features. A compliant fence can cover one of them.
  • Barrier specs. The fence must stand at least 60 in (1.52 m) tall on the outside, leave no more than 2 in (51 mm) of ground clearance, and present no toe-holds. Verify local details with your AHJ.
  • Gate rules. Gates must swing away from the pool and be self-closing and self-latching, with latch height set by your AHJ.
  • Common failure point. Most vinyl systems clear the height and gap limits, but vinyl gate frames often cannot carry spring hinges or magnetic latches. Ask whether the supplier offers a steel or aluminium insert.
  • Plan-check tip. Take your fence and gate sheets to the building counter before ordering panels; inspectors measure latch height, hinge tension and ground gaps.
