The Met Gala is a playground of avant-garde fashion where celebrities and designers showcase the latest trends. It is the hottest fashion event of the year, bringing to life some of the boldest and most extravagant looks for the year.

But what if we took that creativity and translated it into interior design? Here’s a look at some of the most iconic Met Gala outfits reimagined as trending décor.

Met Gala Outfits

Every year there is a themed dress code, and this year they went with “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion“, with the dress code focusing on “The Garden of Time”. Think floral fantasies, fairytales, sequins, beads, and the natural world.

Turning Met Gala Outfits Into Interior Design

I picked 6 of the best looks from the 2024 Met Gala and created rooms around the style and color palette. Which one is your favorite?

Zendaya

First up is Zendaya wearing Galliano Margiela inspired by Christian Dior’s Spring 1999 Haute couture. Zendaya is wearing a headpiece by Philip Treacy.

To incorporate this look, aim to create an elegantly designed modern living room with a rich color palette of deep blues and greens. The walls are painted in a deep teal, featuring moldings, with a large abstract painting depicting a nature scene that helps bring the color scheme together.

The centerpiece of the room is a plush velvet sofa in a deep blue hue, adorned with various cushions in complementary shades of green and blue. A patterned area rug in similar tones sits beneath the wooden coffee table, which has a minimalist metal frame.

Several plants around the room add a touch of nature and freshness, while a brass wall sconce provides subtle, warm lighting. The entire setup exudes an atmosphere of tranquility and sophistication, blending botanical elements with modern elegance.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid, wearing Thome Browne, wore an off-the-shoulder monochrome dress embedded with yellow flowers to the Met Gala, showcasing the Garden of Time theme.

Create a stylish and modern living room with a focus on monochromatic tones, accented by bold pops of yellow. Adorn a sectional crisp white sofa with a selection of cushions in black and bright yellow.

On the walls, place a large piece of abstract art with a dominant black cross pattern and a hint of yellow. This helps to create a striking focal point that ties the color scheme together.

Finally, a black round coffee table sits in front of the sofa, decorated with a stack of contemporary art books and a couple of decorative bowls in gold and black. A sleek floor lamp provides focused lighting over the seating area.

A patterned rug in grayscale tones helps to add depth and texture to the space, creating a chic and contemporary aesthetic that exudes neutral sophistication with playful colorful accents.

Alia Bhatt

British actress Alia Bhatt wore a beautiful and intricate sari made by Sabyasachi. The Sari features delicate material with embroidery and was one of my favorite Met Gala Outfits.

Intricate details are the theme for this interior-designed bedroom, which has a serene and romantic feel. The walls are painted in a muted sage green and feature elegant paneling, which complements the plush velvet headboard in a matching color.

The bed is dressed with bedding in soft pastels, including pillows and a quilt featuring delicate floral embroidery in shades of pink and green.

The bedside table has a golden finish and holds a brass lamp with a white shade, which helps bring warmth to the space. Beside the lamp, place a vase of fresh flowers in pink and purple hues to enhance the feminine vibe.

The overall atmosphere is calm and inviting, combining soft textures and gentle colors to create a restful retreat.

Demi Moore

Demi Moore looked stylish and elegant in a black dress with a pink floral print and an elaborate butterfly-shaped cape with arrows. It was definitely one of the stand-out dresses at the Met Gala for me!

Look to create an elegant and richly decorated room that exudes vintage charm. Paint your walls in a dark shade, creating a dramatic backdrop, which will help to highlight artwork and your furniture.

Add a nightstand with a vintage feel and gold details and dress your bed in layers of soft pinks, greys, and dark greens. Cozy textured blankets and embroidered floral patterns help soften the overall look.

Finally, to add a bit of color to the room, place a dark pink and navy rug beneath the bed and add floral artwork with a vintage frame. The overall atmosphere is both luxurious and intimate, with a thoughtful blend of textures, colors, and vintage elements contributing to the room’s romantic aesthetic.

Sienna Miller

A simple, but elegant look, Sienna Miller chose a Chloe floor-length lace dress with frills. This white boho-inspired look is set to be a key trend for the summer!

Create a bright and airy living room with a bohemian theme. A white sofa is broken up with neutral-colored knitted cushions and throws adding to the overall boho theme.

The decor is minimal yet cozy, with a floor lamp and a lush green potted plant in the corner that brings a natural touch to the room. Add a simple wooden coffee table which provides a rustic contrast to the white furniture and soft furnishings.

Make sure there is lots of light filtering through the windows, to help create a fresh and inviting space.

Sydney Sweeney

Finally, Sydney Sweeney wore a Miu Miu light blue tulle gown with black and crystal embroidery and black elbow-length gloves to give an edgy look.

a light blue kitchen with black accents and a rug on the floor

A light blue palette is perfect for the kitchen. It helps keep it light and fresh and is a tranquil place to cook and socialize. Paint the cabinets in a soft blue which helps give the space a serene and classic vibe.

The black countertops and white subway tile backsplash create a timeless backdrop, while the kitchen island provides additional workspace and storage. Add dark metal hardware to help tie in the black countertops.

Add a large industrial-style black pendant light over the island and to help soften the look, place warm wood in your kitchen with a natural woven runner. Decorative pieces such as ceramic teapots and tea sets and a large vase filled with hydrangeas help to add a vibrant touch.

The Met Gala inspires creativity far beyond the fashion world. By drawing on the themes, colors, and textures of these show-stopping outfits, you can bring a touch of the red carpet into your own home.

Whether it’s opulent metallics, avant-garde drama, or fairytale minimalism, translating these iconic looks into trending décor ensures your interiors are as fashionable as they are beautiful.
