I recently revamped our decking in the garden (see here for my blog post about how I stencilled it) and was very pleased with what I managed to achieve, creating something a little different to enjoy. Our problem now was, we had quite large and bulky furniture which we bought when we had a larger garden and it looked a little out of place on the decking and was obscuring a lot of my hard work!
I was delighted to team up with Argos Home this summer to create a wonderful outdoor family space which we could all enjoy, whether that be for a coffee whilst relaxing in the sun, eating Al fresco with the whole family or enjoying a G&T with friends. First of all, I needed to decide whether we went for a sofa set, corner sofa or dining set as Argos has a fantastic range of garden furniture and in the end, we decided to go with the Argos Home Seychelles Rattan Effect Corner Dining Set in Grey. This was perfect for all our needs as it provided an extremely comfortable place to sit, but somewhere where we could also dine outside as a family.
Initially, the plan was to set the Seychelle dining set up under our apple tree in the corner of the garden. The apple tree and greenery in this corner created such a great backdrop whilst we were eating and we loved having our breakfast out here in the morning, but by midday, the sun had pretty much disappeared as we have an east facing garden so we decided to move it onto our decking where it got a lot more sun.
We are extremely pleased with the Seychelle Rattan effect corner dining set, it sits perfectly on my newly painted decking and really does have a luxurious feel to it! It is extremely comfortable (I’ve fallen asleep on the sofa a few times in the afternoon sun) and the cushions are very lightweight so can be easily removed and wiped down. I have had patio dining sets in the past that can be a little awkward to sit around, but this sits 8 comfortably and the table provides ample room for everyone to eat.
I was thrilled when Argos Home asked me to pick some garden table accessories to go with the Seychelles dining set and was pleasantly surprised when I had a look at all their fabulous garden ranges. They have embraced the monochrome trend with their Global Monochrome range (and my personal favourite). They also have the Stockholm Spring range with pretty pastels and geometric patterns, the Everyday Luxury items including marble effect tableware and hamper baskets, Rainforest with its tropical vibes, Miami Beach with its bold and beautiful designs and the seaside inspired Coastline Range. There really was a huge selection to choose from and in the end, I chose items from different ranges.
This is a lovely large two-tone tray in blue and grey which is ideal for carrying out all your drinks to the table. It has two handles made of natural mango wood and is easy to wipe down
I loved this little planter, especially the teal and gold colour. It’s a perfect table centrepiece and is made of steel so great for indoor or outdoor use.
These goblets are fabulous for outdoor use. They’re made of durable melamine so you don’t have to worry about your guests breaking your best glasses in the sunshine. The kids love them too!
These seaside inspired melamine plates come in a pack of four, two of each design. They are lightweight and durable and perfect for outdoor eating, camping or taking to the beach for an evening BBQ
And to complete the set, the coastline bowls to match!
To complete our outdoor living set up, we needed a little luxury to go with the corner sofa, so I chose this marble crudité dish. Its large enough (39cm diameter) to hold a large variety of nibbles and has a handy built in bowl for your dips.
So, there was only one thing left for it, to test the new furniture and table accessories on my harshest critics, my kids! Thursday night is normally “party tea night” in our household where the kids get to eat ifits (if its in the cupboard, you can eat it. Everyone knows this expression, right?!) They were extremely excited when I told them that we would be eating outside on our new furniture and for once, they actually sat down and ate their tea instead of leaving the table every 2 minutes to do the hokey cokey, grab a toy from their bedroom or practise their cartwheels in the kitchen. As you can see from the below images, the Argos Home Seychelles furniture and Garden accessories got the thumbs up!
